Whole Genome Sequencing Kits
Whole genome sequencing constructs a complete analysis of an entire genome, or identifies mutations, as an alternative to genome mapping. Genome Sequencing can be divided into Phased Sequencing and De Novo Sequencing.

Sanger Sequencing
Sanger Sequencing kits use selective macromolecule chain termination during in vitro replication; adding modified dideoxynucleoside triphosphates (ddNTPs) to cells which terminate elongation of the complementary strand. The resulting DNA fragments can help to identify the sequence when ran and analyzed on a polyacrylamide gel. Sanger sequencing kits generally have a longer nucleotide maximal limit at around 800-1000 nucleotides. This specific seq-technique has mostly been replaced by Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS); however, it still finds applications in laboratories. It is named after its inventor, Dr. Frederick Sanger, who performed the first Sanger Sequencing by capillary electrophoresis in the mid-70s.

BigDye Terminator Sequencing (Sanger Sequencing)
BigDye Terminator Sequencing, also known as Dye-Labeled Terminator Sequencing, is a variation of Sanger Sequencing where dyes are attached to terminating dideoxynucleoside triphosphates. As a result, BigDye Terminator protocols only require one extension reaction, while eliminating the need for labeled primers or the possibility of false terminations. Be aware of extreme peaks, (either very small or very big), which may produce errors in automated base calling.

Pyrosequencing Kits and Related Products
Pyrosequencing uses single-stranded DNA template and is a standard step in cloning experiments. The complementary strand of DNA is synthesized by adding a mixture of each nucleotide to the reaction separately; A combination of three enzymes (DNA polymerase, ATP sulfurylase, and firefly luciferase) and a nucleotide (dNTP) are added to single-stranded DNA. The incorporation of nucleotides is followed by measuring the light emitted. The enzyme luciferase releases red light when a nucleotide is incorporated into the growing strand allowing researchers to determine the DNA sequence of at hand. This technique is referred to as “sequencing by synthesis.” Pyro-sequencing kits are limited to around 500 nucleotides and, therefore, are not applicable when sequencing long strands of DNA.

Methylation Sequencing Kits and Related Products
The life science discipline epigenetics focuses on genome-wide gene expression (spatial and temporal) which is significantly modified by cytosine methylation and chromatin remodeling. Inconsistencies in methylation of chromosomes (hypo- and hypermethylation of cytosine-guanine dinucleotides) are clinically linked to genomic instability or transcriptional silencing. ChIP-seq combines chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) with massively parallel DNA sequencing to identify the binding sites of DNA-associated proteins. A precise mapping global binding sites is one advantage of ChIP-sequencing. The spacing of predetermined probes does not limit the precision of ChIP-seq, unlike microarray-based ChIP-methods and highly precise binding site location information cis obtained. Amazingly, the location of the binding site has an accuracy within a few tens of base pairs, other than ChIP-chip sequencing. 

Targeted Resequencing Kits and Related Products
Targeted Resequencing comes in handy when a subset of genes or genomic regions are isolated and being sequenced. This focused approach to sequencing is cost-effective, allows to focus time and makes data analysis reasonably straightforward. The specificity of the target allows for manageable datasets and enables deep sequencing at high coverage levels for rare variants. 
Targeted resequencing analysis can include the exome (the protein-coding portion of the genome), genes of interest (custom content), or mitochondrial DNA. Some researchers are starting to use targeted resequencing for genome-wide association studies (GWAS) instead of arrays because it is more effective when measuring rare alleles.

RNA Sequencing Kits 
RNA sequencing (whole transcriptome shotgun sequencing) is a gene expression analysis technique that employs Next-Gen Sequencing. It allows for the analysis of low-expressing genes, as well as alternative splicing or post-transcriptional RNA modification. RNA sequencing can also be applied to miRNA or other non-coding RNAs, creating a powerful tool for RNA research.
