Insulin is a hormone produced by the beta cells of the islets of Langerhans in the pancreas. It plays an important role in the metabolism of carbohydrate by its effects on the storage of glycogen in the liver, the conversion of carbohydrate to fat, and the oxidation of glucose by the peripheral tissues. Insulin has a molecular weight of 6000 and contains two peptide chains linked by two disulphide bonds. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.Recommended Dilutions:ELISA: 1:500-1:5000Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.Storage and Stability:Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
